Blackout no Match for Stand Alone!
Wow. What a #wedding !?!
Brooke and Cameron planned an amazing day with their families, and it was going flawlessly…until the power went out at Dante’s!
Since I had a generator to power the ceremony, I improvised and ran power into the dance floor and we partied all night with #candlelight and a 2000w Yamaha generator. Luckily we had enough power for two mains, the subwoofer, dance floor lights, and even the bar point of sale so we could buy drinks.
I’ve never worked a wedding that survived on candle power and a mobile generator, but it was actually pretty great. The crowd was stoked that they could keep rocking, and the dance floor was awesome!! Plus, everyone was bathed in candlelight!
It was a lot of work, but days like today exemplify why I DJ weddings. I started @standalonedjs to give people a professional experience that is memorable. I wanted to up the level of service, sound gear, and DJ abilities that you could find in Durango, Telluride and all of Southwest Colorado. At this wedding I saved the day, and I had so much fun doing it. On this day, the blackout was no match for Stand Alone!!!
Shout out to @karleephipp, Shaggy, Rosie, and the whole @skipurg crew for hanging in and letting me rock. It was a #team effort. Purgatory Resort has multiple wedding venues that give brides and grooms choices about where their big day will be. The food and beverage team executes well and has been steadily improving since my first event there in 2010.
